Ft Worth - Melvin Thomas Wiley Jr. passed away Thursday, June 2, 2022 at the age of 91.

Melvin was born September 28, 1930 in Weatherford, Texas to the late Melvin Wiley Sr. and Syble Hamilton Wiley. Melvin attended and graduated from Weatherford High School. His hobbies included trap shooting, fishing and hunting. Melvin was inducted into the 2008 Texas Trap Hall Of Fame. He has shot 132, 900 singles, 122,200 handicap, and 105,150 doubles. Out of 47 Texas State Shoots, Melvin has missed only one, making 46 consecutively. Some of Melvin's most prized trophies are: 1962 Oklahoma State shoot, out of state, Doubles Champion, 1969 Louisiana State Shoot HAA Champion, 1971 Shreveport Marathon shoot longest straight-run singles, 1976 Grand American Class A Doubles Champion, 1978 Louisiana State Doubles Class A open, 1979 Grand American Preliminary Singles Class A, 1979 Texas State Doubles Class AA, 1980 Southwestern Zone Doubles Champion Class A, 1981 Grand American Clay Target Championship Class A Champion, 1990 Southwestern Zone Handicap Long Yardage Champion, 1997 Kansas State Out of State Veteran, 2005 Spring Grand Doubles Champion Sr. Vet, 2006 Grand American Trap & Field Doubles Class Runner Up. Melvin & Patsy have traveled extensively to trap shoots and have made many wonderful friends along the way. Melvin has served as the President of the FWTS Club on three different occasions 1964-65, 1971-72, and 1989-90. He has served on numerous boards and committees as well.
Melvin is preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Janie Holmes and Penny Morgan; and son, Melvin Wiley III.

SURVIVORS: Loving wife of 72 years, Patsy C. Barker Wiley; daughter, Annola Gay Sampley and husband, Blake; daughter in law, Evelyn Wiley; grandchildren, Kathy Knowles, Amy Vandevender, Brandi Sheffield, Colt Morgan, Michael Holms and John Paul Holms; numerous great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
