Bob Johnson
Inducted TTA HOF in 2021
I am truly honored to be inducted into the Texas Trapshooting Hall of Fame. My first state shoot experience was in Wichita Falls, TX of all places, that was in 1952 and I was 7 years old. I bet of lot of you never knew we had a state shoot, my grandfather was shooting.
I did not start until 1968 and haven't missed a year since. My brother, me and some friends went out to Big 6 Gun Club and got hooked. After a few years they closed and we opened Hatton Road Gun Club and ran that one for many years.
I feel like one of the greatest things about trapshooting is all the friends you meet along the way. The only vacation my children ever got was a State Shoot and I thank them for always going. My Grandfather won the Southwestern Zone Handicap championship in 1936 and I won it in 1990.
I consider that my greatest accomplishment, plus winning trophies at the Grand American, making the All American team and The Texas State Team. 53 years later, 300,000 targets and still can't wait for the next shoot!
